This condo assessment calculator focuses on your recurring annual budget (insurance, utilities, landscaping, management, etc.). For a large one-time project, add a temporary expense line for this year or run a separate calculation to see how much each unit needs to contribute to the assessment.

Can I calculate condo fees monthly vs. quarterly?

Yes. The annual condo budget stays the same regardless of payment frequency. To find the per-period amount, divide the annual total by 12 for monthly fees or by 4 for quarterly fees. Most small condos collect monthly because it smooths cash flow, but the choice depends on your corporation's bylaws and board preferences.

Can I use this for stratas or co-ops, not just condos?

Yes. It works for any small corporation that needs to split an annual budget between units: condos, small strata corporations, and some co-ops. The only requirement is that you either treat all units equally or have an entitlement/percentage for each unit.

How accurate do my numbers need to be?

You don't need a perfect budget to start. A simple estimate based on last year's invoices plus a reasonable reserve contribution is already useful. You can refine the numbers later as you get a better view of your real costs.

How often should we revisit our fees and budget?

Most small condos review their budget at least once a year, usually before the annual meeting. If your costs are changing quickly (insurance, utilities, repairs), it can be helpful to run this calculator more often to see whether your fees still make sense.
